Justified is going out with a bang.
The FX series is enlisting Sam Elliott and Garret Dillahunt for its sixth and final season, set to begin January 2015.
Elliott will portray Markham, a legendary Kentucky gangster who returns from exile with a private army and a lot of cash — thanks to the legal weed he grew in Colorado — determined to win back his empire and lost love Katherine Hale (Mary Steenburgen). His quest is thwarted by Katherine herself, who secretly believes Markham brought down her husband. He isn’t exactly chummy with Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) either.
Dillahunt will portray Walker, a special ops veteran who spent most of the last decade deployed in combat zones, as a soldier and later a private contractor. Now he uses the skills he developed during his military career in his job handling security for a quasi-legal businessman. But Walker’s cold professionalism turns to rage when Raylan and Boyd (Walton Goggins) irritate him.
Based on Elmore Leonard’s novella Fire in the Hole, Justified was developed by Graham Yost and stars Timothy Olyphant as Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a lawman drawn back to his home state of Kentucky. The series co-stars Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowder, Nick Searcy as Givens’ longtime friend and boss Chief Deputy Art Mullen, Jacob Pitts as Deputy Marshal Tim Gutterson, Erica Tazel as Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks, Joelle Carter as Ava Crowder, and Jere Burns as Wynn Duffy.
