Sony is teaming with Holly Madison to bring her book, Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny, to television.
The independent studio has optioned the book and tapped Samara Weaving (Hollywood; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) to play Madison. A network is not yet attached, but the project, envisioned as a limited series, is expected to draw interest from premium cable and streaming outlets.
Australian writer Marieke Hardy (Laid) will adapt the book and pen the script. Sony TV-based Will Gluck (Easy A) and Richard Schwartz (Woke) and their Olive Bridge Entertainment banner will executive produce alongside Peace Out Productions’ Judith Verno (Masters of Sex, The Anna Nicole Story). Madison is also attached to exec produce.

Published in 2015 by Dey Street Books, Down the Rabbit Hole spent multiple weeks atop The New York Times‘ best-seller list. Per Sony, the series looks beyond the polished facade of the Playboy brand to depict the visceral, often deeply damaging stories of the women who entered following a dream and found themselves manipulated, controlled and abused by the machine.
Madison, famously one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends, is no stranger to television. She appeared on E!’s reality series The Girls Next Door and had her own show, Holly’s World. The latter ran for two seasons on E!. Her second book, The Vegas Diaries: Romance, Rolling the Dice, and the Road to Reinvention — which detailed her life in Las Vegas — was published in 2016. She’s repped by UTA and Sloane Offer.
Weaving, meanwhile, next appears in Hulu’s star-studded Nine Perfect Strangers miniseries. Repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment and Gang Tyre, her credits include the upcoming feature Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins as well as Bill and Ted Face the Music and Ready or Not.
