Drew Barrymore’s Sheila Hammond is full of energy and ready to “dream big,” but it seems whatever caused her to become undead and develop a taste for human flesh in Santa Clarita Diet‘s first season is spreading. In fact, as she proclaims “I don’t want to stop living because I’m undead,” half her finger goes flying off.
The first season of Netflix’s zombie comedy ended with Sheila becoming more aggressive and some of her body parts falling off. Meanwhile, husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant), daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) and next-door neighbor Eric (Skyler Gisondo) were desperately trying to find a cure.
In the first trailer for season two, which drops on March 23, the Hammonds are still dealing with Sheila’s zombie transformation. It seems whatever caused her condition is spreading and people have begun to notice the increasing number of missing people in Santa Clarita.
“We need to figure out what caused this so it won’t happen to anyone else,” Sheila proposes.
Joel, seemingly agreeing with his wife’s ambitious pursuit, chimes in: “We could save the world.”
In addition to the police interest in missing people and Abby finding a news article about human body parts discovered near a park, Sheila’s first victim, Gary (Nathan Fillion), will also return in season two — well, at least his head.
Season two guest stars include Joel McHale, Maggie Lawson, Gerald McRaney and Zachary Knighton.
The second season of Santa Clarita Diet, created by Victor Fresco, starts streaming March 23. Watch the full trailer below.
