NBC’s Saturday Night Live is bolstering its writing staff for its upcoming 44th season.
The Lorne Michaels-produced late-night sketch comedy has enlisted Ego Nwodim as a new featured player, while also bolstering its writing staff with four new scribes.
For her part, Nwodim holds a degree in biology from USC and has been a regular castmember at Los Angeles’ UCB Theatre, where she performed her one-woman show “Great Black Women … and Then There’s Me” (her first one-woman show). From Baltimore, she was featured in the 2016 JFL New Faces Characters showcase and the 2016 CBS Diversity Showcase.
Nwodim fills the void created by the departure of featured player Luke Null, who exited in August after a one-year stint on SNL. Her TV credits include episodes of Living Biblically, Law & Order: True Crime, 2 Broke Girls, Adam Ruins Everything and more. She’s repped by Innovative, Underground and Ginsburg Daniels.
Additionally, SNL has added Alan Linic, Alison Gates, Eli Mandel and Bowen Yang as writers. Weekend Update (and Emmy hosts) Michael Che and Colin Jost, as well as Kent Sublette, will return as co-head writers for season 44. (Bryan Tucker stepped down and will serve as a senior writer instead).
SNL returns Sept. 29 with host Adam Driver and musical guest Kanye West.
