Bruno Mars is ready to croon his way onto Saturday Night Live.
Castmember Fred Armisen appears with Mars in the promo for this week’s episode, and the two’s repartee is pretty charming. Mars advises Armisen on picking out the right hat, and Armisen gives Mars pointers on announcing his upcoming SNL double duty.
Obviously Mars needs a song. Armisen whips out some electric drums and Mars grabs a guitar, singing about being both host and musical guest.

The last SNL host to also serve as musical guest was Mick Jagger back in May’s season finale, an episode that included an impressive four musical performances from the Rolling Stones frontman, with assists from Foo Fighters, Jeff Beck and Arcade Fire.
All hard acts to follow, but judging by the digitally added sparkle in Mars’ smile, he is up to the challenge.
SNL airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
