Scarlett Johansson went on The Late Show With David Letterman on Monday night to promote her new film, We Bought a Zoo. Letterman was able to direct the conversation to talking about the recent leak of personal photos from Johansson’s cell phone.
Johansson, for her part, seemed to be able to laugh off the incident. “Somebody stole my nudie photos. They were out there for all the world to see which was, uh, unfortunate, really,” she said.
Johansson called the experience “shocking” and “creepy.” She said she had been experiencing strange things with her account, such as her password often changing, but didn’t realize what that meant until the photos were leaked.
“It meant the guy was there constantly, every 20 seconds, sitting there all pasty and sweaty and pervy and weird,” she added. “And that’s the creepiest thing, really.”
The alleged hacker behind the incident was arrested in October. Christopher Chaney was charged with accessing the email accounts of not only Johansson but also Christina Aguilera and others. He has been indicted on 26 counts and faces up to 121 years in prison if he’s convicted.
Johansson stars in We Bought a Zoo as an employee of the zoo bought by Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon). Mee moves his family to the zoo, even though they have no experience with running a zoo. The 20th Century Fox film is set to release on Dec. 23.
