See-Saw Films will produce The End, a 10-part drama series about euthanasia, starring Frances O’Connor and Harriet Walter, for Foxtel and Sky.
The End follows three generations of a family trying to figure out how to die with dignity. English-born Australian actress Frances O’Connor will play Dr. Kate Brennan, a senior registrar specializing in palliative care medicine. Euthanasia is a hot-button topic in Kate’s field of work and she is passionate in her opposition. On the other side of the world, Kate’s mother (Walter) is just as passionate about her right to die.
Production gets underway in October and will be filmed on location in Queensland, Australia.
The End is created and written by Samantha Strauss, with Jessica M. Thompson and Jonathan Brough directing.
Executive producers for the series are Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Rachel Gardner, Samantha Strauss, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. Louise Smith and Carol Hughes are producers, with Patrick Walters as associate producer. Executive producers for Foxtel are Penny Win and Carly Heaton. Executive producers for Sky are Liz Lewin and Anne Mensah.
The End will air on Fox Showcase on Foxtel in Australia, as well as on Sky Atlantic and streaming service Now TV in the U.K. and Ireland during 2019. Endeavor is selling the series internationally.
