Another showrunner change has been made at The Following.
Less than three months after Alcatraz‘s Jennifer Johnson was tapped to take over day-to-day duties on Fox’s serial killer drama from creator Kevin Williamson, she has exited, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
Johnson, who was at Comic-Con in July touting the new season, will instead focus on development under her overall deal with studio Warner Bros. TV.
With Johnson’s departure, a trio will take over the reins as co-showrunners: director Marcos Siega and writers Brett Mahoney and Alexi Hawley, all of whom are executive producers.
In June, Johnson had been tasked to oversee the Kevin Bacon drama while Williamson focused his attention on his CBS freshman effort Stalker, starring Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott. Williamson had made similar transitions in the past — most recently on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, when he handed off responsibilities to current showrunner/executive producer Julie Plec.
The Following premieres midseason.
