Showtime’s Shameless is adding a new face for its upcoming eighth season.
Gossip Girl grad Jessica Szohr has booked a season-long recurring arc on the dramedy starring William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum.
Szohr will play Nessa, a strong, tough and smart lesbian who is a tenant in Fiona’s (Rossum) newly purchased apartment building. The duo will develop a strong friendship.
The casting keeps Szohr in the Showtime fold after her brief appearance on the premium cable network’s Twin Peaks revival. The actress’ credits also include USA Network’s Complications and Audience Network’s Kingdom. She’s repped by ICM Partners and Atlas Artists.

For Shameless, the addition comes after the series from John Wells wrapped its seventh season by saying farewell to the Gallaghers‘ absentee mother, Monica, as the family moved on without her. That included Fiona continuing to explore her entrepreneurial side with the purchase of an apartment building after meeting Ryan (Barry Sloane) at a Southside Young Professionals networking event.
A return date for Shameless has not yet been determined.
