Sharon Gless is heading to comedy.
The Burn Notice and Cagney & Lacey star will co-star in ABC’s multicamera comedy pilot Saint Francis opposite Michael Imperioli, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
TV Pilots 2014: The Complete Guide
From Man Up‘s Chris Moynihan, Saint Francis centers on a gruff blue-collar, no-nonsense Long Island cop and family man, Francis (Imperioli), who butts heads with the modern liberal world when his 29-year-old sister gets pregnant out of wedlock. The patriarch of the Quinlan family, Francis is the epitome of old-fashioned values but is willing to do anything for the good of his family.
Gless will play Francis’ “pain-in-the-butt” Irish-Catholic mother, Janice, who has taken up permanent residence in his basement and is not pleased about her only daughter’s pregnancy. Paget Brewster, Henry Simmons, Spencer Grammer and Jeremy Luke also star.

Moynihan will write and executive produce with Ron West and Kelly Kulchak. ABC Studios and Tagline Pictures are behind the half-hour project.
The veteran actress is coming off seven seasons on USA spy drama Burn Notice, which ended its run last year. A 10-time Emmy nominee and two-time winner, Gless starred in the classic drama Cagney & Lacey. Other credits include Queer as Folk, Nip/Tuck, The Trials of Rosie O’Neill and BBC’s The State Within. She is repped by Domain, manager Perry Zimel and Katz Golden Rosenman.
