Shawn Mendes joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to perform “Treat You Better” on classroom instruments on The Tonight Show on Monday night (Oct. 8). As always, the segment found the performers crowded into a tight room, all jamming out to Mendes’ platinum-selling single using basic instruments including a kazoo, tambourine, bongos, hand clappers and ukulele. Fallon did his bit by playing a wood block, while Mendes slapped a spoon.
“I know I can treat you better/ Than he can,” belted Fallon alongside Mendes on the chorus. The lighthearted rendition gained momentum as Fallon continued to goof around as if he were a kid in an actual classroom. Fallon silenced the band right after the bridge, and they all burst out in one final, fun-filled conclusion.
