Showtime is continuing to add water to Weeds.
The premium cable network announced Thursday that it has renewed its Mary-Louise Parker starring comedy for an eighth season.
Co-starring Justin Kirk, Hunter Parrish and Alexander Gould, the network has ordered 13 episodes of the series, with production set to begin next year.
The series, created by Jenji Kohan and produced by Lionsgate, ranks as Showtime’s highest-rated comedy series.

The series, which last season jumped ahead three years to find Parker’s drug-dealing mother Nancy Botwin released from prison after taking the fall for a murder her son Shane committed, ended with an episode that could have served as a series finale with a sniper likely taking aim at Nancy and a gunshot before cutting to black.
The series has earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations over the course of its run. Last season averaged roughly 720,000 viewers, according to Nielsen.
