There’s no denying that Showtime’s Weeds reinvents itself almost every season. And it did so again on this past season after Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) served some prison time. Though, it kept its themes of self-discovery for the characters both as part of this motley crew of Botwins and outside of it, it certainly took some new turns.
PHOTOS: Behind the Scenes on ‘Weeds’
On the upcoming seventh season DVD bonus footage, Gary Anthony Williams, who played Nancy’s tough-loving halfway house director, chatted up stars Kevin Nealon and Justin Kirk about what made the past season so special.
“You know what was great about this season, I thought,” Nealon, who plays the opportunistic Doug, answers. “[It] was not only the three-year jump, but we introduced a lot of new characters. I think the overall tone of the show of the season was a lot more comedic. It was a much lighter season, which was fun.”

The seventh season DVD releases on Feb. 21.
