Fox is pulling out all the stops for Sleepy Hollow‘s third season, and the drama will look considerably different when it returns on its new night, Thursday.
In addition to moving from its home in North Carolina to Atlanta, the series also underwent a showrunner change, with Clifton Campbell (The Glades) taking over for Mark Goffman this year. On-screen, two major characters have seen their last of Sleepy Hollow as the drama reboots itself with a slew of new additions.
Here’s a handy cheat sheet and refresher about which characters are alive (and what they’re up to), which actors departed and a guide to the new faces coming to town.
Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison)
Alive, but emotionally reeling after the death of his wife and son. After spending two seasons trying to save his wife from Moloch (Derek Mears) and the forces of evil, Ichabod ends up being the one to kill Katrina (in self-defense).
Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie)
Alive and well. She did kill Ichabod’s son, but he had it coming.
Katrina Crane (Katia Winter)
Dead. After attempting and failing to go back in time to kill Ichabod and Abbie, Katrina ends up dying as Ichabod fatally wounds her in self-defense.
Henry Parrish (John Noble)/Jeremy Crane (Braden Fitzgerald)
Dead. Killed by Abbie by a bullet he did not see coming.
Frank Irving (Orlando Jones)
Resurrected. Frank’s state of life fluctuated between alive and dead during the show’s second season. In the end, he was finally resurrected — but it sadly means little as actor Jones is exiting the series. Showrunner Clifton Campbell tells THR that Sleepy Hollow will address Irving’s departure in the season three premiere.
The Horseman of Death/Abraham Van Brunt (Neil Jackson)
Alive-ish? Undead? Either way, the fate of the Headless Horseman has been sealed as Campbell revealed that the series will be leaving Sleepy Hollow‘s iconic villain behind as the show moves forward with the second tribulation.
Nick Hawley (Matt Barr)
Alive, but don’t expect to see him back, as Campbell confirmed that Hawley is not returning to the show in season three.
Jenny Mills (Lyndie Greenwood)
Alive and a key part of the team when it comes to supporting Abbie and Ichabod in their roles as Witnesses.
Joe Corbin (Zach Appelman)
Alive. The son of August Corbin (Clancy Brown) will return as a series regular in season three after Abbie and Ichabod cured him from turning into a Wendigo.
Moloch (Derek Mears)
Dead. Killed by Henry in a surprise twist during the midseason finale after Moloch ordered him to kill his mother, Katrina.
Daniel Reynolds (new series regular Lance Gross)
A new season of Sleepy Hollow wouldn’t feel the same if Abbie didn’t have a new boss. Daniel will be FBI special agent in charge at the local precinct where Abbie is stationed.
Betsy Ross (new series regular Nikki Reed)
There is more than meets the eye when it comes to Sleepy Hollow‘s twisted version of seamstress of America’s flag. Ross, who will appear in flashbacks, will be part of George Washington‘s (Louis Herthum) mysterious ring of spies.
Pandora (series regular Shannyn Sossamon)
Sleepy Hollow has a new visitor and her name is Pandora. Not much has been revealed about the mysterious woman, but if her name is a clue, we may just see the appearance of Pandora’s Box this season.
Sleepy Hollow returns on its new night Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m.
