We know how much Smallville fans look out for their own, so this news will hit some hard (though probably won’t be too much of a surprise). Sam Jones III, who played Pete Ross on the first three seasons of Smallville was sentenced to prison time on Wednesday.
Apparently, the actor was OK with the sentence. After the hearing, he tweeted, “Just got out of court! God is Great!! #FAITH!!!”

E! Online reports that Jones received one year in federal prison for conspiring to sell more than 10,000 doses of the prescription painkiller oxycodone aka “Hillbilly Heroine.”

According to a U. S. District Attorney spokesperson, the judge also ordered three years of probation for the actor once he’s completed his prison sentence.
The actor, 28, was arrested during a raid of his Canoga, Calif. home in 2009 and was found guilty of the crime last December. Area police had been trying to shut down the distribution of the drug and targeted Jones who was apparently known as the “Hollywood Connection.”
Oxycodone got its nickname, “Hillbilly Heroine,” because the first sign of the drug’s abuse appeared in rural areas of the U.S., such as Appalachia.
Jones played Clark Kent’s (Tom Welling) good friend and confidante, Pete, from 2001 to 2004. More recently, he has appeared on Spike TV’s Blue Mountain State and NBC’s ER.
