Sitting next to “decorations from Melania’s Christmas display” — that were actually Halloween decorations — and a blue moon, Carrey’s Biden said, “For some Trump voters, it’s the only time they’ll wear a mask” of the holiday.
He said that he was going to read a scary story and picked up a copy of Donal Trump Jr.’s book Triggered. He then read an Edgar Allan Poe spoof based on current politics.
“We just have to come together like two butt cheeks to stop the crap,” said Carrey’s Biden of the election. “Trump cannot win, we must do better than that super-spreader,” he continued.
Kate McKinnon showed up as Hillary Clinton, and Mikey Day played Nate Silver. The cold open made fun of Silver’s FiveThirtyEight website for having the wrong predictions in 2016.
Maya Rudolph brought back her Sen. Kamala Harris impression for the scary story, joined by Beck Bennett as Mitch McConnell. “My old pal from the Senate, don’t tell anyone this, but I’m pulling for you,” he said.
“Use your voice and use your vote,” Rudolph’s Harris implored. “Whatever happens America, we know it’ll be okay,” said Carrey’s Biden. “Though it’s never a good sign when Walmart stops selling guns…” added Rudolph.
“In this daylight savings hour, let’s gain an hour and lose a president,” Carrey’s Biden concluded.
