‘SNL’ Promos: Jimmy Fallon Hypes Justin Timberlake’s Return (Video)

Jimmy Fallon is back at his old digs on Saturday Night Live.

The Late Night host returns to the Studio 8H stage for the second time as host since he left SNL in 2004, and on Tuesday evening, NBC debuted more than three minutes of teasers. Though SNL favorite Justin Timberlake doesn’t even appear in them — he has a few more 20/20 Experience World Tour dates before hitting New York City — his BFF Fallon, Kenan Thompson and Kate McKinnon made sure his presence was felt throughout. (Timberlake, this week’s musical guest, is also back less than a year after his March hosting gig.)

On a blistery, snowy day in New York City, Fallon and Thompson brave the cold when they open by joking that Timberlake’s flight was unexpectedly canceled, causing them to be pummeled by snowballs: “I’m only kidding!” In the second teaser, Thompson — his face covered by a thick scarf — pretends to be Timberlake, but apparently didn’t do his research on the singer’s big hits when he makes a not-so-“Sexy” mistake.

In other moments, Thompson catches Timberlake fever, “Mirrors” makes a brief cameo and Fallon switches up a traditional Christmas song with some more SNL-appropriate lyrics. A guitar-playing Fallon also makes up a little ditty, sharing a cute moment with McKinnon.
