Saturday Night Live skewered this week’s big gun control news—the proposed bipartisan compromise which in real life would expand background checks on guns purchased at trade shows, but also prohibit a national list of gun owners.
SNL mocked the plan as ineffectual, with President Obama (Jay Pharoah) introducing Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (Jason Sudeikis) and Republican Sen. Patrick J. Toomey (Bill Hader) as two men who will undoubtedly lose their jobs for trying to come together on the issue.

“We did not do that,” he said.
Toomey said no one can buy a handgun unless asked “are you a good person?” He added the plan would limit the number of guns one can shoot at one time to two, though oddly enough the penalty for shooting three guns at once is a free, fourth gun. But on the plus side, the compromise banned AK-47s from coin-operated vending machines, though none of the restrictions applied in Florida.
On another note, Obama later took back the podium to complain about Jay-Z giving him grief this week.
