NEW YORK — Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi joined the likes of World Wrestling Entertainment star John Cena, current WWE champion Mike “The Miz” Mizanin (of Real World and Tough Enough fame) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson mid-day Wednesday to help promote the company’s version of the Super Bowl, WrestleMania, this Sunday.
At the WrestleMania XXVII press conference here at the Hard Rock Cafe Times Square, the stars helped tout WWE’s biggest annual pay-per-view event, which takes place in Atlanta. New York was the site of the first-ever WrestleMania.
Asked on the sidelines of the event about the status of a possible Snooki spin-off of Jersey Shore, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “There is nothing that has been set in stone yet, but we’ll see.”

She said she’d love to act and feels she would be a natural in comedies, but “not right now.” She added: “I’m still sticking to my Jersey Shore crew.”
Filming for the latest season of the MTV hit show, which will see the crew visit Italy, starts in late April. Asked if she feels pressure to keep up the strong ratings and if she had any special plans to do so, Snooki said: “We are just ourselves, and people think we’re entertaining and like to watch us.”
During the WrestleMania press conference, Snooki arrived on stage in a top that said “Brunette Mafia” and was mostly booed, but then also cheered by some of the always-vocal WWE fans.
“I had no idea what I was getting myself into” before stepping into a ring for the first time recently, she told the crowd, but vowed to show up prepared for her three-on-three mixed gender tag team match on Sunday as part of a team of crowd favorites. “I am so ready for WrestleMania.”
Snooki later posed for press photos by herself as well as with Cena and Johnson.
“It kind of came naturally to me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter later when asked about her physical preparation for Sunday. “I did gymnastics for eight years, and I have been cheerleading since middle school … I am going to rehearse this weekend for Mania and will incorporate my gymnastics skills.”
She said she used to watch WWE because she found a former star attractive, but took a break. “When they gave me this opportunity, I started watching it again to see what I would do and what’s happening,” she said. “And I really enjoyed it.”
Wednesday’s press event, which also included fans, brought a taste of WrestleMania to the heart of the Big Apple as fans cheered and booed arriving superstars.
Johnson, who will serve as the host of WrestleMania XXVII, got a big fan ovation as he took to the stage. He said he has been to big sports events, the Oscars and many other events, but “there is no greater event than WrestleMania.”
Johnson is in negotiations to star in Snitch, an action thriller that Ric Roman Waugh is writing and directing for Exclusive Media.
Cena, who faces “Miz” on Sunday, compared WrestleMania to WWE’s take on a TV show’s season finale — only that it is nearly four hours long. He finished by calling the annual event “the single biggest night in entertainment.”
Cena and Johnson, who have in recent weeks jousted verbally on WWE shows, stared each other down to end the event.
