ABC’s Speechless is hitting the road for season three.
The comedy, from showrunner Scott Silveri, is headed to London for a two-part season-three premiere — with a special guest star. John Cleese is joining the cast for the two-part premiere in a role that could not be more perfect. Cleese will play Martin, the hot-tempered, grudge-holding, sharp-witted and irresistibly charming father to Driver’s Maya.
For those keeping score, the Speechless casting marks a reunion for Cleese with Driver. Cleese and Driver previously guest-starred as father and daughter on the initial run of NBC’s Will & Grace.
The entire cast — including stars John Ross Bowie, Cedric Yarbrough, Mason Cook, Micah Fowler and Kyla Kenedy — of the ABC family comedy from 20th TV will head to London and begin production on the two episodes starting Monday, Aug. 30. Filming will take place all over London, from tour buses to Fitzroy Square and Kensington Gardens.
The episodes (titled “L-O-N — LONDON” Part One and “L-O-N — LONDON” Part Two) will air over two Fridays, Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 at 8:30 p.m. as part of ABC’s revived “TGIF” comedy block.
