Stacey Dash is leaving her VH1 hourlong series Single Ladies.
The Clueless star will exit the show, which films in Atlanta, for family reasons.
“I truly enjoyed playing Val on Single Ladies, but I have decided to leave the show,” she said, according to CNN. “I have to be back in L.A. with my children right now and the Single Ladies shooting location makes that impossible.”
Dash continued: “I wish VH1 the best of luck with the show and in maintaining the strong fanbase we developed in season one.”
There had been speculation that there was trouble on the Single Ladies set between Dash and co-star LisaRaye McCoy, though that was shot down earlier this year.
VH1 released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter confirming Dash’s departure: “VH1 respects Stacey’s decision and her commitment to what she feels is best for her family. We thank her for all of her hard work in making Single Ladies a success right out of the gate and we wish her nothing but the best in her future plans.”
In July, VH1 renewed the series, which counts Queen Latifah as one of its executive producers, for a second season. In its first season, Single Ladies averaged 2.8 million total viewers following Basketball Wives. Production on the new season will begin this fall and premiere on the network next year.
