A group of young FBI recruits, all with specific reasons for joining, battle their way through training at the Quantico base in Virginia. As we intercut between their hidden pasts and their present training, we also flash-forward to the near future, where one of the recruits will turn out to be a sleeper terrorist responsible for the most devastating terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.
Upcoming ABC drama Quantico, which is Bollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra‘s TV series debut, will air on 21st Century Fox’s Star India.
The company said Wednesday it has acquired the show, the first major U.S. series toplined by a Bollywood star, for its English-language entertainment networks StarWorld and StarWorld HD.
In the show, Chopra plays Alex Parrish, a rookie FBI recruit with a mysterious past, undergoing training at the Quantico base in Virginia. The show is executive produced by Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy) and Joshua Safran (Gossip Girl). Described as Grey’s Anatomy meets Homeland, Quantico will debut this fall.

“Quantico will be available to Indian audiences almost immediately after its U.S. airing,” Chopra said. “Audience response to our first trailer has been fantastic and I am looking forward to working with the Star TV team to create a memorable launch campaign for the show.”
“Quantico is a great addition to our existing shows on Star, including Castle, How to Get Away with Murder and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” added Disney India vp and head of marketing and distribution Amrita Pandey. Chopra’s association with Disney India’s UTV Motion Pictures banner includes starring roles in the studio’s Bollywood titles Fashion, Barfi! and Kaminey.

Chopra was first signed to a talent holding deal with ABC Studios in 2014 by the network’s executive vp casting Keli Lee who flew down to Mumbai to sign the actress. The executive played a major role in casting Scandal‘s Kerry Washington, Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara and Grey’s Anatomy‘s Sandra Oh as part of the network’s diversity push. Chopra’s signing came after she had a voice role in Disney’s animated feature Planes.
While Chopra, 32, is one of India’s most popular stars, she has a much lower profile in the States, but ABC has been promoting the Quantico star who recently made an appearance at the Television Critics Association press tour. Describing her role as “Jason Bourne in female form” Chopra also said she “wanted to be cast for the respect of being an actor, not for the color of my skin. Going to school in America, I never saw anyone with my color skin [on TV].”
Chopra’s first international foray was via music after she was signed to Interscope Geffen A&M. Her debut single “In My City” was also selected as the theme song to the 2012 season of the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. Her follow-up cover of Bonnie Raitt‘s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” was featured in a nationwide campaign for Beats By Dre. She also became the first woman of Indian descent to feature in an advertising campaign for Guess which was photographed by rocker Bryan Adams.
