Starz is headed to the dark side of Dublin with its latest series.
The premium cable outlet has picked up Dublin Murders, an eight-episode drama based on Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad novels. It’s due to air on Starz in 2019.
Sarah Phelps (The ABC Murders, The Casual Vacancy) adapted the first two novels in French’s series, In the Woods and The Likeness, for Dublin Murders. The series will star Killian Scott (CB Strike) and Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful, Ransom) as Dublin detectives Rob Reilly and Cassie Maddox, whose close working relationship is sorely tested when murder cases bring up pieces of their pasts both would rather forget.
“This series is brilliantly adapted by Sarah Phelps, who in blending the first two novels has constructed a complex and enigmatic world for this suspense-filled drama,” said Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht. “We look forward to bringing viewers along on this intense ride.”
The cast also includes Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Moe Dunford, Leah McNamara, Ian Kenny, Eugene O’Hare, Jonny Holden, Conleth Hill and Peter McDonald.
Euston Films, Veritas Entertainment Group and Element Pictures (The Favourite) are producing Dublin Murders, which will also air on BBC One and RTE in Ireland. Fremantle is handling international distribution.
Phelps executive produces with lead director Saul Dibb; Kate Harwood and Noemi Spanos of Euston Films; Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen for Veritas Entertainment; Ed Guiney for Element Pictures; and Elizabeth Kilgarriff for the BBC.
John Hayes and Rebecca Gatward also direct.
