NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution has renewed rookie talker Steve Harvey for a second season.
The syndicated entry, which earned host Steve Harvey a People’s Choice Award on Wednesday for favorite new talk show host, is currently sold in 98 percent of the country, including all NBC-owned TV stations. The hour-long show in the November sweep was the only new syndicated entry to post gains year-over-year, build on its lead-in and grow among households and women 25-54.
“The instant success of Steve Harvey with the daytime audience is being greeted with long-term commitments from our station partners,” NBCU Domestic TV Distribution president Barry Wallach said in a statement announcing the news Thursday.
Steve Harvey hails from Endemol USA, with Harvey, Alex Duda and Rushion McDonald on board as exec producers. The show is taped before a live studio audience in Chicago.
