TNT to Air ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’ in Tribute to Steve Jobs

TNT will pay tribute to late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs on Thursday night by airing two broadcasts of its 1999 Emmy-nominated telefilm Pirates of Silicon Valley.

TNT will broadcast the 1999 telefilm starring Noah Wyle as Jobs on Thursday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Pirates of Silicon Valley, which co-stars Anthony Michael Hall as Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Joey Slotnick as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, revolves around the race between Apple Computers and Microsoft from early dorm-room tinkering days to the companies’ boardroom battles.

Wyle, in a statement issued to THR, recalled his time meeting Jobs and the work he put in to portraying him onscreen.

“Portraying him in Pirates of Silicon Valley was as challenging and as fulfilling of a role as I will have in my career,” he said. “I had the honor of meeting him shortly after the movie aired and was struck by his sincerity and self-deprecating sense of humor. We have lost a visionary whose innovations will continue to impact our society forever.”

“My condolences and thoughts are with his family who will certainly miss him most as a husband and father,” he noted.

The telepic, written and directed by Martyn Burke who adapted the project from the best-selling book Fire in the Valley by Paul Frieberger and Michael Swaine, earned five Emmy nominations, including for outstanding made for TV movie and writing for a movie.
