‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Recruits ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Legend Robert Englund

Stranger Things 4, better lock your door …

Robert Englund, the actor responsible for bringing iconic horror villain Freddy Krueger to nightmarish life, is joining the cast of Netflix’s Stranger Things. The Nightmare on Elm Street legend is one of several new actors announced for the fourth season of the horror series, currently in production. A premiere date is not yet set.

In addition to Englund, new Stranger Things castmembers include Harry Potter veteran Jamie Campbell Bower as new series regular Peter Ballard, a caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day, Peter may be poised to take a stand. Additional series regulars include Eduardo Franco (Booksmart) as Argyle, a fun-loving stoner who works at Surfer Boy Pizza; and Catherine the Great actor Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson, a metalhead who runs local Dungeons & Dragons club called The Hellfire Club. Eddie is described as standing “at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery.”

Englund is the breakout name among five recurring actors, including:

• Tom Wlaschiha (best known as the face-changing Jaqen H’Ghar on Game of Thrones) as Dimitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper (David Harbour). He’s smart, cunning and charming, but can he be trusted?;

• Nikola Djuricko as Yuri, a seedy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who loves bad jokes, cold hard cash and crunchy peanut butter;

• Mason Dye as Jason Carver, a rich sports star whose perfect world begins to unravel in the face of a new evil;

• and Sherman Augustus as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, a no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all.

For his part, Englund’s character sounds like someone who may have some commonalities with Freddy Krueger: Victor Creel, a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s. Whether he will be quipping and hopping into his victims’ dreams a la the notorious slasher remains to be seen.
