Many brands are opting for early premieres of their Super Bowl commercials this year.
Game day is still more than a week off, but Audi and an unknown entity joined Super Bowl vets GoDaddy.com on Thursday by posting clips to YouTube. And what do the two spots in common? Beloved movies.
The first ad, a 10 second teaser, reveals that Matthew Broderick is stepping back into character as Ferris Bueller. The mysterious spot shows Broderick opening his bedroom shades in Ferris fashion and breaking the fourth wall to ask, “How can I handle work on a day like today?”
“We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to,” writes YouTube account chuckachucka2012, which has since been posting famous clips of the sausage king of Chicago. “Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a ‘day off’ on Monday and catch the big reveal.”
Audi is bit more straightforward.
The car company launched its 60-second spot for the 2013 Audi S7 online, devoting special attention to the headlights.
“Vampire Party,” officially debuting in the post-kick-off break, finds a bunch of fun-loving vampires enjoying bagged blood by a campfire and scurrying up trees, Twilight style.
It’s all surprisingly wholesome until their friend arrives with a cooler full of reinforcements, forgetting his high beams are on. You can probably guess what happens next, but we’ll make a point of noting that Buffy herself couldn’t do a better job than the Audi.
