Taraji P. Henson accidentally became one of the most talked-about celebrities to attend Super Bowl 50 when she referred to Coldplay as Maroon 5 during the halftime show.
“YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!! #maroon5 is life to me!!! #superbowl50 #HappyCamper,” the Empire star wrote on Instagram while sharing video of Coldplay’s performance at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 7.
Fans were quick to call out Henson on social media, and she deleted the post. “Oooooooopppps. Lmao!” she later tweeted, but the gaffe still went viral.

On Monday, frontman Adam Levine (who shared Henson’s post on his own account) and his band took to Twitter to show the TV star that there are no hard feelings.
“Thanks for loving our performance from our seats at #SB50,” Maroon 5 tweeted from their official account at Henson. “We think we sounded pretty good!”

After the game, the Empire star explained her gaffe to Entertainment Tonight, blaming her mix-up on drinking too much “Kool-Aid” while watching the game from inside one of the stadium’s luxury suites.
“So, I don’t know if you know how it goes down in the suites,” she said. “There are a lot of drinks in there — Kool-Aid, lemonade, iced tea. I mixed it all.”
Adding that everyone in the suite was drinking, she said someone assured her that the band playing was Maroon 5 while she was writing her post. “Everybody’s texting me: ‘Change your post, change your post!'” she then said. “I think they’re mad because I didn’t give homage to Beyonce and I’m like, ‘The Beyonce post is coming!’ Then I realized it was Coldplay and I was like … I’m human, I made a mistake. It happens, c’mon, I drank the Kool-Aid!”
