CBS Television Studios is bolstering its alternative division.
The studio has tapped former VH1 exec Susan Levison to serve as senior vp alternative programming. She will work closely with senior exec vp alternative Ghen Maynard and develop new alternative and unscripted content for broadcast, cable, streaming and digital platforms.
“I’ve known Susan a long time and am excited to have her join me in building our alternative operations at the studio,” said Maynard, to whom she will report. “She brings an entrepreneurial spirit that I’ve long admired, as well as outstanding creative chops as a producer, seller and buyer.”
Before coming to CBSTVS, Levison served as exec vp originals at Viacom’s VH1, where she oversaw originals and development as well as talent development for the cable network. During her tenure, she launched the Love and Hip-Hop: Hollywood franchise as well as Dating Naked. Since her exit from the cabler in November 2015, she has worked as an exec on VH1’s upcoming scripted drama Daytime Divas, starring Vanessa Williams.
Levison previously was the first creative hired at FishBowl Worldwide Media, where she sold and produced more than a dozen pilots and five unscripted series for networks such as Discovery, Bravo and TruTV.
She started her career in Fox’s alternative department, where she developed shows that included The Simple Life and Paradise Hotel. She later moved to Fox’s drama and comedy departments, overseeing animated comedies Bob’s Burgers and The Cleveland Show.
