Syfy’s The Haunted is beefing up its cast.
Steve Kazee (Shameless), David Alpay (Vampire Diaries) and DeVaughn Nixon (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) have joined the cast of the drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Ordered to pilot in September, The Haunted is a supernatural horror-drama about four siblings who reunite following the death of their parents. As they try to overcome their fractured personal relationships, they find that they also must face the literal ghosts from their pasts in order to survive.
Kazee will play Ellis Bradley, the oldest of the siblings and the closest to their parents’ unusual line of work. He is a quiet man and a lifelong bachelor whose complicated past comes to light following his parents’ deaths. Kazee, whose other credits include his Tony-winning performance in the Broadway musical Once and a two-episode arc on Nashville, is repped by D2 Management and APA.
Alpay will portray Virgil, the second oldest Bradley sibling. He is a highly motivated corporate litigator and a family man whose life unravels following his parents’ funeral. Also known for his roles on Quantico, The Borgias and The Tudors, the actor is repped by APA, The Characters Agency, The Green Room Management and Barnes Morris.
Nixon will step into the role of James Terry, a detective in the Savannah Police Department who, along with his partner, investigates the strange circumstances surrounding the elder Bradleys‘ deaths. Described as an inquisitive man, James operates on instincts, listening and noticing things others may not. Nixon, whose credits also include The Bodyguard, Terminator 2 and Prom, is repped by Elevate Entertainment, SDB Partners and Ginsburg Daniels.
The trio join a cast that includes former Nikita star Lyndsy Fonseca and Elizabeth Cappuccino (Jessica Jones), who are set as the two Bradley sisters.
The Magicians scribe Noga Landau penned the pilot for The Haunted and will co-executive produce the Universal Cable Productions project. Author James Frey and Todd Cohen of Full Fathom Five will exec produce.
