Taken has found its new showrunner.
Person of Interest alum Greg Plageman has been tapped to replace Homeland vet Alexander Cary for season two, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Cary’s exit was confirmed when NBC picked up the adaptation of the Liam Neeson film franchise for a 16-episode second season.
Although the Clive Standen and Jennifer Beals starrer drew a tepid 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 7.5 million viewers in its first season, the drama is a cost-effective co-production between Universal Television and Europa Corp. That, paired with strong international sales for the action series, helped land the series a renewal.

“We’re thrilled to bring Greg on to run the show,” EuropaCorp TV USA president Matthew Gross said Monday in a statement. “His enormous talent and vast experience with bold broadcast television is a perfect fit. We look forward to seeing what his vision and direction brings to Taken and the Bryan Mills character as we move into the show’s second season.”
Plageman joins executive producers Luc Besson, Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vésinne, Thomas Anargyros and director Alex Graves.
Plageman most recently served as an exec producer, writer and director on CBS’ Person of Interest for all five seasons. His other credits include Chase, Cold Case and NYPD Blue. He is repped by WME and Morris Yorn.
