The cable network has given series orders to Sullivan and Son, a half-hour comedy executive produced by the Wedding Crashers star and starring Steve Byrne.
Sullivan stars Byrne as Steve Sullivan, an attorney who quits his job to take over his family’s legendary bar that serves as the unofficial “town hall” of the working-class Pittsburgh neighborhood. The project chronicles his attempt to find a more rewarding life.
Byrne will exec produce alongside Iron Man‘s Peter Billingsley, Vaughn and Cheers‘ Rob Long, who will serve as showrunner.
The series hails from Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions and Warner Horizon Television, with Byrne, Long and Rules of Engagement’s Ted Wass penning the pilot. TBS will bow the 10-episode series in the summer.
“Sullivan and Son is a smart, funny, workplace comedy from the distinct comedy voices of Steve Byrne and Rob Long,” said Michael Wright, executive vp and head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. “The barstools at Sullivan’s bar are filled with outrageous, unique characters, and Steve and Rob have created an outstanding world in which they can shine. We are extremely proud of this show and look forward to spending many nights throwing one back with the regulars at Sullivan & Son.”?
The cast includes Brooke Lyoons, Dan Lauria, Jodi Long, Owen Benjamin, Brian Doyle Murray, Vivian Bang, Christine Ebersole and Valerie Azlynn.
