MTV wants more Snooki.
The cable network on Friday renewed Snooki & JWoww for a second season and set an October premiere date for Jersey Shore‘s sixth season.
MTV’s Jersey Shore spinoff premiered in June to 2.4 million viewers, a far cry from the network’s flagship series and also down from the network’s second spinoff, The Pauly D Project, which collected 2.9 million viewers in its plum post-Punk’d time slot in March. The fifth season of Jersey Shore opened to 7.6 million viewers in January.
In announcing the Snooki renewal, the network also picked up the Jeff Dye-hosted hidden-camera entry Money From Strangers for a second season.
“MTV has been a beacon for each young generation throughout its history, and this millennial generation is no different,” the network’s head of programming David Janollari said. “Our distinctive blend of reality and scripted shows gives voice to the excitement and possibilities that frame their everyday lives. We strive to reflect their hopes, dreams and struggles, with a mix of humor, authentic voices and engaging stories that you can’t find anywhere else on TV.”
The sixth and rumored final season of Jersey Shore, meanwhile, will return at 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. Freshman entry Underemployed from Craig Wright bows at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, and fellow rookie Catfish: The TV Show, based on the Sundance Film Festival hit, debuts 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, followed by the return of World of Jenks at 11 p.m.
