NEW YORK — Spanish-language network TeleFutura is getting into late-night with Noche de Perros (Guys Night Out), the first late-night show for the Univision sister network. The show was announced last spring at Univision’s upfront presentation. Now TeleFutura has settled on a trio of hosts and is set to bow the show later this month.
Produced by Univision Studios, Noche de Perros is aimed squarely at male viewers, with a bachelor pad set (including a bar) and a canine mascot (a pet bulldog). The show will premiere Monday, Oct. 31 at 11 p.m. with co-hosts by Carlos Calderón, Gabriel Varela and Daniel Carles.
Viewers will recognize some trappings of late-night TV — a house band and celebrity guests. But there won’t be a monologue; rather the hosts will open the show with a discussion of current events (sports and news) as well as “manly topics” including women.

Calderón has been a regular on Univision for more than a decade and most recently hosted the network’s Kmart-branded game show. Varela is a well-known Spanish language theater producer and actor. And Carles is an anchor on the pan regional edition of E! Entertainment Television Latin America.
It is the first late-night show for Univision Communications-operated TeleFutura. Currently the network airs a sports show (which will move to midnight after Noche de Perros) and late movies. TeleFutura has committed to 250 installments of Noche de Perros for the first year.
Flagship network Univision – which rivals English-language broadcast competitors among younger viewers and often beats the broadcast competition on Fridays and Saturdays during primetime – airs local and national news from 11 p.m. to midnight, followed by telenovelas. The company last June tapped industry veteran Randy Falco as president and CEO of Univision Communications, Inc.
