Terry Crews Will Host ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’

Terry Crews will be pulling double duty on NBC this season.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star has been tapped as host of America’s Got Talent: The Champions. The show will bring together winners and memorable contestants from AGT competitions in other countries for a global celebration of their skills.

AGT judges Simon Cowell, Mel B., Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel will assume the same duties on The Champions.

“I am so proud and honored to join Simon, Mel, Heidi and Howie in hosting the No. 1 alternative series on television,” said Crews. “NBC’s America’s Got Talent is a show I love to watch with my family, and now to actually be a part of this special edition, The Champions, is more than I could have asked or dreamed. Now America’s Got Terry Crews!”

The Champions is set to premiere in January and will fill the gap in NBC’s schedule between seasons of The Voice. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also on tap for midseason at the network, though a premiere date for the comedy, which moved to NBC after five seasons on Fox, has yet to be announced.

America’s Got Talent wrapped its 13th season as the top-rated summer show on TV, a title it’s held every year it has aired. It averaged a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 14.6 million viewers in Nielsen’s live-plus-7 ratings; though down year to year, those numbers dwarfed everything else that aired against it.
