Lewis Jacobs/NBCIt has been quite a wild ride for finalist Tony Lucca on NBC’s The Voice, especially when it came to his ongoing feud with coach Christina Aguilera.

It would seem worth it after his coach, Adam Levine, and America’s votes made him one of the final four to move on to next week’s battle for the season two win. But, his good fortune does have him thinking how different things would’ve been if he had picked Aguilera’s team when he had the chance during blind auditions.
“I don’t think I’d be here right now if I had picked Christina,” Lucca tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Clearly, he thought the feud with his former Mickey Mouse Club cast mate had ended after her positive response to his rendition of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” during semifinals. Instead, he found Aguilera specifically lobbying Levine against him in favor of Katrina Parker this week.

“It seems she’s harboring some legitimate and hardcore resentment that I didn’t figure,” he says. “She made some very critical, important decisions during the course of the season that surprised a lot of people. I don’t know if what we’re seeing now is about a backlash for not picking her or maybe something older and deeper seeded. I don’t know. It’s weird.”
Team Christina’s finalist, Chris Mann, weighed in on the feud between his coach and Lucca when THR spoke to him after the show. “He doesn’t need the controversy,” Mann says.
“He was really good last night doing ‘How Do You Like Me Now?,’” he continues. “I was blown away honestly by that. It’s kind of fun, but it’s over. He’s not here for any reason other than he really deserves to be.”

And the show’s social media correspondent, singer and actress Christina Milian, preferred to put an optimistic spin on the feud. “Maybe you can look at it with a negative eye, but there was positivity in it,” she says.
“I always like to believe that Christina criticizes when she gives a critique to make you better,” she goes on to say. “Look at Tony, honestly he is already amazing, but he has proven himself ten-fold to be one of the top four right now. Sometimes, you need that fuel to say, ‘You know what, I’m going to prove myself to this person and kill it.’ Even if it’s not for that person, it’s for the world and sometimes I like that. It pushes me.”
