The results show kicked off with a performance from boy band, The Wanted. And later, Justin Bieber made an appearance to premiere a first look at the music video for “Boyfriend” and announced that his next album, Believe, will drop June 19. Host Carson Daly — in a totally unscripted move — also invited him to perform the single on the show’s finale.
When it’s time to learn who America saved, we find out that viewers went with two very solid singers in Chris Mann (Team Christina) and Jermaine Paul (Team Blake). The other four contestants will now have to sing one more song to convince their respective judges to save them from elimination.
First up, Ashley De La Rosa sings Lady Gaga‘s “You and I,” but the desperation she showed in her last survival performance just wasn’t there. Then, Lindsey Pavao sings an emotional “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner. In the end, Christina goes with Lindsey.
For Team Blake, Erin Willett sang Tina Turner‘s “Proud Mary.” She really attacked that song with the spirit she needed to convince Blake to keep her. RaeLynn performs “Die Young” by The Band Perry and she gives it her usual spunk, but it doesn’t really stand up next to Erin’s performance. After some time to think it over, Blake has a hard time making the decision. He bonded with Erin over their fathers dying around the same time and RaeLynn is his only country star. He ended up going with the solid and versatile talent that is Erin.
