Thruline Entertainment is putting down some roots.
The management and production company has signed a two-year, first-look development deal with A+E Studios. Under the pact, Thruline will develop and produce scripted content for the A+E portfolio of networks (that includes Lifetime, A&E, History, FYI and Viceland) as well as for outside buyers.
“Over the years, we’ve watched Thruline Entertainment grow and diversify into an industry powerhouse. As A+E Studios continues its rapid expansion, the timing is right for us to solidify a mutually beneficial working relationship,” A+E Studios senior vp Tana Jamieson said. “We look forward to collaborating closely with Thruline’s creative roster to create premium scripted content across a variety of platforms.”
Thruline was founded in 2002 by Ron West, Chris Henze and J.B. Roberts. (Willie Mercer joined shortly afterward as a partner.) The company produced USA Network’s long-running drama Psych and its recent movie revival. The company’s current programs in the works include Comedy Central’s Roast Battle and Hulu’s Sarah Silverman show I Love You, America. The company has 14 managers who represent more than 300 clients, including Eric Stonestreet, Allison Janney, Michael Cera, John Hawkes and Silverman, among others. Writers repped by Thruline include Christopher Moynihan (Marlon), John Rogers (Leverage) and Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids), among others. The company also reps Chicago- and Toronto-based comedy empire the Second City.
“A+E Studios has quickly earned a stellar reputation as a producer of premium scripted drama with excellent auspices. The studio also is aligned with distinct, well-branded networks and provides a great platform for our growing base of writers and creative partners,” the Thruline partners said in a joint statement. “We look forward to working with Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson and their amazing team to create exceptional content for the A+E Networks as well as for premium cable and the streaming spaces.”
A+E Studios produces Lifetime hit UnREAL, the forthcoming Jenji Kohan-produced drama American Princess, History’s Roots, Six and Knightfall, among others.
