Timothy Omundson is returning to ABC.
The Galavant grad has been tapped to star opposite Carol Burnett in ABC’s comedy pilot Household Name, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From executive producer Amy Poehler and writer Michael Saltzman, the comedy follows a family who has an opportunity to buy the house of their dreams, but under extremely abnormal circumstances: They must live with the previous owner, an eccentric, larger-than-life actress named Vivian Valmont (Burnett).

Omundson is set as the male lead, Edward Von Glimpse, Vivian’s gay best friend. He’s her confidant, hype man and apologist — sometimes all within the span of a single sentence. He’s droll with a dry wit and seen-it-all attitude, a throwback to a more civilized, elegant time.
The casting brings Omundson back to ABC following his two-season role as King Richard in Dan Fogelman’s musical comedy Galavant. The actor next guest-stars on ABC’s American Housewife and Fox’s Lucifer. His credits include Psych, Judging Amy and Deadwood. He’s repped by Innovative Artists and Jackoway Tyerman.
Saltzman will pen the script and exec produce alongside Poehler, Brooke Posch, Burnett, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky and Michael Pelmont. Matt Oberg co-stars.
