Apple is expanding its relationship with Tom Holland.
The tech giant and streamer has tapped the Cherry star to topline The Crowded Room, a 10-episode, straight-to-series anthology from writer Akiva Goldsman.
The anthology will explore the true and inspirational stories of those who struggled and learned to successfully live with mental illness. The first season of the anthology will be based on the Daniel Keyes biography, The Minds of Billy Milligan. Holland will star as Millilgan, who was the first person ever acquitted of a crime because of Multiple Personality Disorder (now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder).

The Crowded Room is a co-production between Apple’s recently launched in-house studio and New Regency. Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Star Trek: Picard) will exec produce via his Weed Roads Production banner. Holland will also exec produce alongside Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer.
Holland is fresh off of playing an Army vet suffering from PTSD in Apple’s Russo brothers feature film Cherry. He next reprises his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and has Uncharted set for 2022. He’s repped by WME and Sloane Offer.
Goldsman, who penned Russell Crowe-starrer A Beautiful Mind, serves as co-showrunner on Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard and upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The Oscar winner is also teaming with Amma Asante and Tiffany Haddish to shop limited series, The Bardess. He’s repped by CAA and Handon Jacobson.
For Apple, The Crowded Room marks the iPhone maker’s latest star-studded TV foray. The company’s in-house studio is also behind Samuel L. Jackson vehicle The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Band of Brothers sequel Masters of the Air and comedy High Desert starring Patricia Arquette, among others, as Apple — like its competitors — looks to have an ownership stake in its original content.
