Music booker Jonathan Cohen is leaving NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sources have confirmed to Billboard.
A former senior editor at Billboard and author of the book Pearl Jam 20, Cohen started working with Fallon on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in 2009. He is known for his adventurous musical taste, booking tastemaking and up-and-coming artists like Tyler, the Creator and Jhene Aiko. Many others, from Disclosure to Lorde, have made their U.S. television debuts via Cohen.
“I very much enjoy going first for artists,” Cohen said in a 2014 interview with Wired, “especially if we have a strong belief that they’re going to be very successful.”
Cohen declined to comment for this article, and at press time representatives from NBC had not yet responded to Billboard‘s request for comment.
