Are you ready for some football — and some commercials?
This year, a 30-second Super Bowl ad runs about $3 million.
The Hollywood Reporter has compiled a list of the most anticipated spots on Sunday’s game:
BEST BUY: Though details are mum, the electronics retailer’s spot will feature the odd pairing of Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne (it is set to air in the third quarter).
SKECHERS: The sneaker brand’s clip centers on Kim Kardashian going through another breakup as she trains wearing Sketchers. “Kim is going to break someone’s heart in the fourth quarter of the game,” Leonard Armato, president of Skechers Fitness Group, tells THR. After he saw the spot, he says: “I had to take a cold shower.”
CAREERBUILDER.COM: A spokesperson for the company (which matches job hunters with employers) has said of its upcoming ad (airing in the third quarter): “Chimpanzees create chaos and high jinks for the only human employee in the firm, including a car sandwich in the company parking lot.”
E-TRADE: The popular talking babies return in the online investing site’s third-quarter ad.
AUDI: Titled “Release the Hounds,” the 60-second clip will follow two well-dressed inmates as they attempt to break out of a luxury prison. An Audi spokesperson describes the clip as: “Challenging viewers to re-think luxury, the ad will humorously feature a number of elements that recall the heyday of old luxury.”
ANHEUSER-BUSCH: To promote its imported brand Stella Artois, Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody plays a 1960s jazz club singer.
GODADDY.COM: The Internet domain registrar is famous for its racy advertisements, that some argue objectify women. And this year’s clip is no exception: In it, Jillian Michaels and racecar driver Danica Patrick appear seemingly naked. “For people who have a problem with it, honestly, get a life,” Michaels tells THR.
PEPSI: The $1 million spot, to tout Lipton Brisk, features rapper Eminem as a claymation figure.
SNICKERS: Comedians Roseanne Barr and Richard Lewis headline the candy bar’s latest commercial, set to air during the third quarter. Betty White appeared in last year’s ad, titled “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry,” which showed her being tackled by a football team because of hunger.
VOLKSWAGEN: A kid dressed as Darth Vader tries using The Force on household objects — and dad’s Passat.
