TruTV is getting into the cooking-show game.
The WarnerMedia cable network has greenlit a show called Fast Foodies, starring Top Chef winners Kristen Kish and Jeremy Ford and Iron Chef champion Justin Sutherland. In each episode, a celebrity guest will bring their favorite fast food item — from burgers to Hawaiian pizza to sausage muffins — and the three chefs will compete to re-create and then reimagine the dish.
Celebrity guests for the 10-episode season are Joel McHale, James Van Der Beek, Andy Richter, Amanda Seales, Ron Funches, Charlotte McKinney, Kevin Hefferman and Steve Lemme (TruTV’s Tacoma FD), Fortune Feimster, GaTa and Bobby Lee.
“This show is equal parts food, comedy and raucous debauchery,” said Corie Henson, executive vp and head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT, and TruTV. “The stakes have never been lower, but it’s a blast to spend the night with Kristen, Jeremy and Justin, and you’ll never look at your favorite fast food the same way again after seeing the works of art these three culinary geniuses are creating every week.”
Fast Foodies is the second unscripted series TruTV has ordered in as many days. On Tuesday the cabler ordered a street magic show called Big Trick Energy, featuring magicians/daredevils Chris Ramsay, Eric Leclerc, Wes Barker and Alex Boyer.
Shed Media, a division of Warner Bros. Unscripted and Alternative Television, produces the series. The company’s Dan Peirson and Lisa Shannon executive produce with showrunner Michael Rucker (Top Chef, Netflix’s Cooked With Cannabis) and Julie Golden.
