Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth may be returning to their favorite ZIP code.
Nearly two decades after wrapping Beverly Hills, 90210, former co-stars and friends Spelling and Garth are in the early stages of developing a project for CBS Television Studios. The project, according to People.com, would feature Spelling and Garth playing exaggerated versions of themselves.
The project — it’s unclear if it’s a drama or comedy — is in development and being produced by CBS Television Studios, who served in the same capacity on Beverly Hills, 90210. A network has not yet been attached. Additional details, including a writer and formal logline, are being kept under wraps. Spelling documented her meeting on CBS’ Burbank lot for the project on Instagram with a reference to the characters she and Garth played on the original series: “#back2work great creative day yesterday with my #partnerincrime @jenniegarth #90210vibes #donnaandkellyforver #besties.”
Created by Darren Star and exec produced by Aaron Spelling, Beverly Hills, 90210, ran for 10 seasons and was the latter’s longest-running show (edging out Dynasty). The series followed a group of friends from high school to college and beyond. Tori Spelling starred alongside Garth, Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green.
The series became a pop culture phenomenon and spawned a spinoff, Melrose Place. Both shows were rebooted at The CW, with 90210 running for five seasons and wrapping in 2013 and Melrose Place clocking in at one season in 2009-10. Like the original Beverly Hills, 90210, CBS Television Studios produced all three series.
Spelling and Garth, who have remained friends since wrapping 90210, previously reunited with ABC Family multicamera comedy Mystery Girls, in which they starred two former TV detective show starlets brought back together by a real-life mystery.
Garth is repped by TalentWorks and Randy James Management; Spelling is with APA, ICM Partners, The Green Room and Jackoway Tyerman.
