Tori Spelling is getting crafty with TLC.
The cable network, home to fare including Sister Wives, Extreme Couponing and What Not to Wear, has greenlit Craft Wars, a 10-episode unscripted series to be hosted and executive produced by Spelling.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210, star will oversee the special which pits three passionate crafters against one another in two rounds of challenges as they explore different genres of the $30 billion craft industry.
“Craft Wars continues to redefine crafting as something extremely modern — this is not your grandmother’s crocheting. At its core, the series celebrates the creative sprit, which will resonate with TLC’s audience,” TLC GM Amy Winter said in a statement announcing the news Thursday.
Spelling, an avid crafter herself, will also serve as a guide for the audience and as a mentor to contestants. The actress and former Oxygen reality show star recently launched her own line of craft products, The Tori Spelling Collection, and showcases her abilities in an upcoming party planning book titled CelebraTORI, due April 3. In addition, her DIY fashion jewelry line, Styled by Tori Spelling, will debut in the summer.
“As a lifelong crafter, I love how crafting gives you the opportunity to really express yourself and show your creativity,” Spelling said. “It’s an amazing outlet and nothing shows love more than something homemade. I can’t wait to share my passion and be inspired by all the amazing contestants.”
Craft Wars will debut June 26 on TLC.
