NBC has found its new leading man for midseason drama The InBetween.
Training Day grad Justin Cornwell has replaced Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) in the NBC drama about a clairvoyant detective. The role was reconceived after the show was picked up to series.
The series revolves around Cassie Bishop (Harriet Dyer), who can see and communicate with the dead and help them with their unresolved problems. When her longtime friend Detective Tom Hackett and his new partner, former FBI Agent Damien Asante (Cornwell), need help solving a darkly puzzling murder, Cassie agrees to use her abilities. Despite her reluctance, she may have found a way to keep her demons at bay, all while solving some of the city’s most challenging cases.
The procedural hails from Madam Secretary writer Moira Kirland, who exec produces the pilot alongside David Heyman and Nancy Cotton. Charlotte Sieling will direct and exec produce the pilot. The series hails from Universal TV, NBCU International TV Studio and Heyday TV. The cast includes Dyer, Anne-Marie Johnson, Cindy Luna, Chad James Buchanan and Paul Blackthorne.
Cornwell’s credits include CBS’ Training Day reboot and episodes of Chicago PD and Empire. He’s repped by UTA, Anonymous Content and Ziffren Brittenham.
A premiere date for The InBetween (formerly called In Between Lives) has not yet been determined.
