Trevor Noah Premieres New Version of ‘Daily Show’ Theme Song Produced by Timbaland

Trevor Noah now has his own version of the Daily Show theme song.

The comedian turned host, who took over the Comedy Central series in September, debuted a new version of the tune “Dog on Fire,” which has been the show’s theme song since its 1996 inception.

With a faster beat and a more prominent rock sound, the new recording, which premiered at the end of Monday night’s episode, was produced by Timbaland and King Logan and was mixed by Chris Godbey. It’s a fitting shift, since Noah previously promised that the series is “definitely going to be doing more music” by regularly including more musicians as guests.

“Dog on Fire” originally was written and performed by Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar) for original host Craig Kilborn and then was re-recorded by the band They Might Be Giants shortly after Jon Stewart began his tenure in 1999.
