‘True Blood’ Alum Joins Crackle Drama ‘The Oath’

Crackle’s new drama The Oath is adding a True Blood alum to its cast.

 

Ryan Kwanten has boarded the action-packed series from the Sony Pictures Television Network streaming service starring Sean Bean. The actor will also serve as a producer on the 10-episode show, which is created and written by former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Joe Halpin (Hawaii Five-O) and executive produced by 50 Cent.

 

Kwanten will play Steve Hammond, son of Tom Hammond (Bean) and the leader of a cop gang, The Ravens. A cool, pragmatic, reluctant leader with the mind and instincts of a shrewd tactician, Hammond is a survivor — a natural protector who values taking care of those closest to him, his family and his team. 

 

The Oath, which will debut in 2018, is a gritty drama that will explore a world of gangs made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join. Only a select few make the cut, but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks. 

 

Todd Hoffman and Dennis Kim of Storied Media Group wil executive produce the drama with Halpin, who also serving as the showrunner. In addition to starring in True Blood for seven seasons, Kwanten made an appearance on Fox’s New Girl and will next be seen in the films Supercon alongside John Malkovich and Category 5 with Maggie Grace.
