Vampire blood-driven dreams have been an effective narrative tool in HBO’s True Blood. And Sunday’s episode gave viewers another example of that when Sookie (Anna Paquin) had to drink Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) blood to survive the gun shot that hit her during last episode’s Witch War II.

As a result, Sookie had a very telling dream that brought Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Bill together for a talk. And wearing red lingerie doesn’t hurt when trying to plead one’s case to two men, either. What unraveled was Sookie’s decision that she loved both men and would like to find a way for them to be OK with that, as well. Ah, dreams. That would never fly in the real world, but it does reveal where Sookie’s mind is when it comes to the two men. Or does it?

After all, her relationships to the two vamps are both quite altered at this point in the season. Has Bill’s blood transfusion created stronger feelings for him? We would say it did. Has the affect of the amnesia spell made Eric more lovable to the half fairy? Again, we would say it does.
At this rate (and against the wishes of many of you who are fans of the books the series is based on), we’ll venture to say that Bill may have Sookie’s love locked up in the end. After all, there’s no guarantee that the romance will (or could) continue once Eric gets his memories back and realizes just how much hatred he holds inside him. For Bill’s part, his deception of Sookie seem to be behind him. Plus, he’s in his right mind and his actions still show a deep allegiance to Sookie. Can we say the same for when the fog rises from Eric’s mind?
But, we want to hear what you think. Who do you want Sookie to ultimately end up with and whom do you think she really will?

Other notable events from the episode, “Let’s Get Out of Here”:
— How’s it possible that “Martonia” (Fiona Shaw) outdid Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare)? At the tolerance event, she had three vampires disembowel a human each in front of an audience and a whole press corp. And as the episode ended, Eric is seen plunging toward Bill. If humans seem predisposed to hating the vampires before, then this will be catastrophic for human-vampire relations. Nan (Jessica Tuck) has her work cut out for her!
— Debbie (Britt Morgan) shows her true eye colors. We love what the series is doing with Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) were-girlfriend right now. Her motivations are so hard to read. That’s not to say that we don’t expect her to turn on Sookie at some point, but the fact that the series has placed doubt in our mind about her intentions is intriguing.
— Tommy (Marshall Allman) takes it for the team. This was a startling turn for Tommy as he skinwalked in to what surely would be a beating for Sam (Sam Trammell) at the hands of Marcus and his were thugs. Tommy definitely took a licking. We’ve stated in the past that their on-again-off-again relationship gets on our nerves, but that scene was quite redeeming for both Tommy and that storyline.
— The exorcism of Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). For a moment, we thought this situation was running a bit long, but it ended up being packed with great moments for Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Andy (Chris Bauer), and Jesus (Kevin Alejandro). Plus, anything that closes the snore-a-palooza storyline on Arlene’s devil-baby is fine by us.
— Jason truck beds Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll). For those of us who couldn’t wait for this to happen: Score! Sorry, Hoyt (Jim Parrack).
