Stars of HBO’s vampire drama True Blood walked the red carpet at the fifth season premiere on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. While there was plenty of talk about the upcoming season and the supernatural threats on the characters’ lives, there was also a lot of talk about star Anna Paquin’s growing belly.
The actress, 29, is expecting her first child with husband Stephen Moyer, 42, who co-stars on the show with Paquin. The couple, who wed in August 2010, announced that they were expecting their first child in April 2012.
“I feel fantastic,” Paquin told reporters as she walked the red carpet in a form-fitting black Rachel Comey dress.
Moyer, who has two children from a previous relationship, was also feeling good while chatting with reporters before the premiere screening at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.
“It’s always amazing,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I love my kids so much and that fact that Anna is pregnant just adds more crazy to the bundle of fun.”
The fifth season of True Blood, which kicks off on June 10, sees Paquin’s Sookie dealing with the fallout from killing werewolf Debbie (Brit Morgan) and the possible death of her best friend, Tara (Rutina Wesley). Moyer’s Bill will be facing heat from the government of vampires, the Vampire Authority.
“It’s an unbelievable show to be a part of. And I think maybe that shows up on screen. Plus, the stories are really sexy and bad ass and weird,” Paquin said of working on the HBO show.
